I am pleased to announce that we are in the midst of planning our 3rd Annual Strong Black Woman Redefined Conference. Last year was amazing (CLICK HERE to watch a snippet of the program) and I am confident that this year’s conference will be even better.
The Strong Black Woman Redefined Conference aims to raise awareness about how subscribing to the Strong Black Woman concept can be (and has been) detrimental to the mental wellness of Black women. Studies have shown that along with the stigma, the belief that we as Black women are uniquely resilient to mental distress prevents us from seeking professional mental health treatment when its needed. Our goal for this conference is to not challenge this notion, but offer resources and solutions that will help Black women start or improve their mental wellness journeys.
I am currently seeking Black women clinicians, wellness practitioners, as well as those with lived experience who are willing to share their stories and expertise to help uplift and empower Black women to embark on or improve their mental health and wellness journeys.
If you are interested in participating in this year’s event, complete this online form and we’ll get back to you to further discuss how your talk can help us achieve our goal for the conference.
Strong Black Woman Redefined is in-person event hosted in the Greater Boston area and is tentatively scheduled for October 2022. The exact date and location are still TBD.
